Terms of Service
Version: November 4, 2026. Not an approved launch agreement.
Who may use Overt
Overt is intended for real people who are at least 18 and eligible to use the service in the United States. Each person may have one account. Browsing is public; posting and following require verification. Vouched accounts may use a phone-only check. This does not prove age, residence or one person per account; users must still meet the eligibility rules. The current sandbox uses synthetic checks and is not a live verified network.
Your account
Use a name you choose to display and a handle that does not impersonate someone else. Your legal name is not made public by our verification flow. Protect your passkeys. Contact the operator for recovery; a recovery procedure must be approved before launch. Do not sell accounts, share an identity or evade a ban. Mistaken identity matches and recycled phone numbers require an appeal process.
Invites and vouching
Account invite records are private. If a person you vouched for is banned for abuse, your invite rights are paused. Repeated cases revoke those rights. Staff review and appeal procedures need approval before launch. A public waitlist referral improves queue priority but does not grant account access.
Your content
You retain ownership of what you post. You give Overt permission to host, process, display and distribute it to provide the service, subject to deletion, backups and lawful preservation. Do not post content you lack permission to share. Public content can be copied by others. Removing it from Overt does not remove outside copies.
Anonymous posts
An anonymous post displays Anon and a default avatar. It does not appear on your public profile. Overt keeps a restricted private author link for abuse control, account rights and valid legal obligations. Authorized staff access requires a report, a reason and an audit entry. Anonymity is not immunity from moderation or valid legal demands. Your words, timing or information you voluntarily include may identify you.
Community rules
No threats, harassment, hate targeting protected characteristics, sexual exploitation, illegal content, impersonation, spam, fraud or ban evasion. AI-created content is allowed. You must personally approve publishing it and approve each engagement action with your passkey. Do not let bots or autonomous agents act through your account. Do not present generated text as your own lived experience. See the Community Guidelines. We can remove content and apply a warning, temporary suspension and permanent ban. Emergency procedures, appeals and proportionate exceptions need counsel approval.
Overt Plus
Verification and the core feed stay free. Plus may include short video, higher limits, editing and longer posts. $4.99/month and $39.99/year are SAMPLE PRICING, not an offer to charge. Purchases are disabled. Before sales begin, final pricing, renewal, cancellation, refunds, taxes and store-specific terms will be displayed. Mobile purchases must use the configured store purchase flow. No app directs users to a web checkout.
Reports and copyright
Use the report action on content. A monitored support contact, named operator and DMCA agent must be added before launch. The operator will review valid copyright notices and counter-notices with counsel and use a repeat-infringer policy. Do not send unlawful imagery by email.
Closing your account
You can request a data download or delete your account in Settings. Enforcement hashes are retained only where necessary to enforce a permanent ban or meet a legal obligation, subject to an approved retention schedule. See the Privacy Policy.
Counsel must finish
Operator name/address and contacts; eligibility definition (US location vs residency vs ID issuer); disputes, governing law and venue; liability and warranty terms; appeals and recovery; paid terms; copyright agent; emergency enforcement. No arbitration or class-action waiver is silently added by this draft.
